# Yes or No Wheel

> A yes or no wheel is a spinner split evenly between Yes and No, so every spin is a fair 50/50 coin toss with a wheel's suspense. Switch to Yes / No / Maybe and each answer gets exactly a one-in-three chance. The result is picked before the wheel moves and the animation simply lands on it, so a longer or shorter spin never changes the odds.

## How to use it

1. Ask your question out loud or in your head.
2. Choose Yes / No, or Yes / No / Maybe for a three-way answer.
3. Spin the wheel and go with where the pointer lands.

## Odds on each wheel

Every segment is the same size, so every answer is equally likely on every spin.

| Wheel | Segments | Chance of each answer |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Yes / No | 8 (4 Yes, 4 No) | 50% |
| Yes / No / Maybe | 9 (3 of each) | 33.3% |
| Yes twice in a row | - | 25% |
| Same answer 5 times in a row | - | 6.25% |

## Questions

### Is the yes or no wheel really 50/50?

Yes. Yes and No have four equal segments each, and the landing segment is chosen at random before the spin starts, so each answer has exactly a 50% chance every time.

### Can I add Maybe to the wheel?

Switch to Yes / No / Maybe. The wheel then has nine equal segments, three for each answer, so each comes up one time in three.

### Why did I get the same answer several times in a row?

Spins have no memory. Three of the same answer in a row happens one time in four on a yes or no wheel, and five in a row about once every 16 runs of five. That is randomness, not a stuck wheel.

### Is a yes or no wheel the same as flipping a coin?

The odds are identical, 50/50. The wheel is easier to share on a screen or a stream, and it adds a Maybe option a coin cannot give you.

### Should I trust the wheel for a real decision?

Use it to break a tie between two options you are fine with. A useful trick: notice whether you feel relieved or disappointed when it lands. That reaction usually tells you what you actually wanted.

### Can I use it in a classroom or on a stream?

Yes. It is a common pick for classroom yes or no questions, party games and live streams. The answer is shown in large text and the tally keeps count of every spin until you change the wheel.

### Does anything get sent to a server?

No. The wheel runs entirely in your browser, and spins are not logged or stored anywhere.
