## About

Shroom is a free, open‑source screen recording app for Mac that stores videos in your own Cloudflare account. Install with a single command, set up a Cloudflare token, and start recording. It auto‑deletes stale clips, lets you pin important ones, and invites teammates via a single link. AI adds chapters and captions, all running on your Cloudflare edge.

## Shroom as an alternative

People evaluate Shroom against Loom, Zoom, OBS Studio, Camtasia, CloudApp.

## Questions

### How much does Shroom cost?

Shroom itself is free. You only pay for Cloudflare storage if you exceed the free tier.

### Do I need a Cloudflare account?

Yes, you need a Cloudflare account to create a token, but you can host the videos in your account without any additional subscription.

### Can I invite teammates to record videos?

Yes. Invite teammates with a single link; they don’t need a Cloudflare account, and their videos go into your storage.

### What happens to old videos?

Shroom auto‑deletes stale videos that haven’t been watched, keeping storage usage low. You can pin important videos to prevent deletion.
